Hello! I’m back in New York City and still processing the very special back-to-back experiences I had in Oaxaca and Durham this past month and a half. I have much to share, coming soon, and in the meantime here is a newsletter of announcements. Thank you for taking the time to read. ❣️❣️❣️
Firstly and most importantly, some of my deeply beloved New York friends are currently in Cairo, having flown there to aid Palestinian evacuees from Gaza. The fees are steep and there is ongoing fundraising to help cover families’ costs. This fundraising is time sensitive, as my friends are there for one more week and the border could close at any time. I’m doing a 24-hour flash raffle for a tattoo valued at $500, good for flash, custom, or toward a multi-session larger piece. All funds will go to the evacuation fees being raised by this crew.
Entries are $10 each and you can enter as many times as you want ($20 = two entries and so forth). Payments for your entries can be sent to Venmo @tamara-santibanez or PayPal to santibaneztattoo@gmail.com. Please put your preferred method of contact (email or IG handle) in the notes, and do not include “raffle” or anything Palestine related in the description to avoid flagging. I’ll draw a name Tuesday and send out an update with the winner and my donation receipt.
Donation info is in the images below if you want to contribute directly.
If you prefer to donate via GoFundMe, you can find a list of the families here.
💫 On May 4th, HIBR: Tattoos for Palestine is hosting a global event to fundraise for Gaza. You can find more info and a participating artists near you via their IG list! @hibrfalastin
💫 I’m part of a panel event in Albany next week hosted by In Our Own Voices, an organization that serves a wide variety of needs for LGBTQ+ POC. The conversation will feature an amazing array of healers discussing music, somatic movement, herbalism, and more. Hope to see you there :)

💫 On May 7th in NYC, I’ll be in conversation with Marina Garcia-Vasquez and Andrea Bauza, moderated by Jazmine Hughes for Pocoapoco residency. My time at the residency was special beyond words, and I’m so happy to have this mini reunion to look forward to.
💫 In literary news, my friend Tina Horn, writer, dominatrix, and host of the iconic podcast Why Are People Into That?! has a book coming out, and the advance copy I was lucky enough to receive is bringing much-needed joy to my week. Tina’s writerly voice is nothing short of delightful; I am finding myself laughing aloud while reading on my bus commute and learning many new things, even as someone who has kink and BDSM as a longtime interest and practice. Preorder your copy here.
This week marked one year of the largest displacement crisis in Sudan, where 8.6 million people have been forced from their homes and face emergency hunger levels. Al Jazeera compiled a list of relief organizations that are taking donations, but if you know of any current, direct places to contribute, please do send them.
Finally, please enjoy this video of dancers for divestment at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University. I was able to visit this weekend and was so moved, so inspired, so proud of the hard work and commitment everyone is demonstrating toward Palestinian solidarity.
