There is so much to say about the news, the world, the future, the collective mood, but I’ve been delaying sending out some basic and necessary tattoo updates. I’m back at Flower World after surgery, working again, but finding myself extra fatigued and sore as my body makes the readjustment to tattooing. Despite this, it’s been a joy to be welcomed back by reconnecting with clients both familiar and new, and I just want to say a huge thank you again for all the support before, during, and since my surgery. More to come on current events and resources, but for now here is the tattoo news for the month.
Here’s a fact: I hate Instagram. Nothing revelatory to say there, but I am working (like many people I know) to divest as much as possible from the platform beyond news and resource sharing. To that end, this will be the place I send out tattoo photos and available designs. Below are some pieces I did in the later half of 2024 that I’m particularly happy with. I have some time open on Friday, January 31st, and into February beyond that.
Flower World is hosting a fundraiser flash day this Sunday the 26th with myself, Nassim Dayoub @seem.tattoo, Haitham Haddad @_sukhmat, Ellen Perry @ellentattoos, and Elika Nakhaee @stuckonyoulikearosetattoo. Contact the artists directly to book, proceeds will be divided between aid for migrant workers affected by the LA fires and families returning to Gaza to rebuild. Flower World is also going to begin hosting flash days once a month to invite people into the studio and to connect with our amazing roster of artists, perhaps with a theme or special extras accompanying it?
The energy for our upcoming Flower World flash day on Valentine’s Day weekend - save the date, Sunday February 16th 🌹
I also want to build more mentorship, resource and information sharing, and portfolio reviews into my time this coming year. A reminder that you can book a portfolio review with me anytime if you are looking for technical and design support, or to talk through your approach to work more generally. I love connecting with tattooers in this way. Some reviews from past sessions:
“Working in a private studio can sometimes feel isolating and these consultations help to bring me back into the fold and offer a perspective outside of myself and the people I work alongside with.”
“Tamara has a keen eye for what a creator is striving for and has a fantastic sense of what sort of guidance would be most relevant to the individual. They are kind and encouraging, I’ve always left our meetings feeling grounded and invigorated.”
Both the Boundaries & Burnout and Intro to Trauma-Informed Tattooing class recordings will be retired at the end of this month to make way for new, more current offerings. They are both on sale until then.
