Nights of War

This morning I bought a 7-day pillar candle that is red, rose-scented and inscribed with “LOVE ROMANCE JOY WISDOM ACHIEVEMENT.” There’s not much to say on the topic of Valentine’s Day for me, other than that I hope any love we feel, platonic, romantic, or universal, nourishes us in continued action for a more just world, an end to genocide, and an end to occupation and empire. Following the example of artist Praise Fuller, I searched “love” in my iPhone photos and pulled my favorite five to share.
